Dr Bryony Balzia Bartolo was admitted to the bar in 2018, after successfully reading Law at the University of Malta, obtaining a Doctor of Laws Degree; a Diploma of Notary Public; and a Bachelor of Laws and European Studies. For her Doctorate in Laws degree she submitted her thesis entitled "Dependent Self-employment: A Comparative Analysis from an EU law perspective".

Today Bryony has gained considerable legal experience and regularly advises clients on matters relating to property law, data protection, family law, and debt collection.

Bryony is also a certified information privacy professional, having furthered her studies by obtaining CIPP/E and CIPM certifications, and is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Bryony also serves as a board member within the Commission on Gender-based Violence and Domestic Violence, where she strongly advocates for the right of all persons to live a life that is free from all forms of violence.

Désirée Attard

Partner

Dr Désirée Attard was admitted to the bar in 2018 after successfully reading Law at the University of Malta, obtaining a Doctor of Laws Degree; a Diploma of Notary Public; and a Bachelor of Laws and European Studies. As part of her Doctorate in Laws degree, she successfully defended her thesis, “Abortion in Malta: Reviewing the Legal Stance from a Pro-Choice Perspective”.

Désirée spent almost a decade cutting her teeth in legislative and policy drafting for high-level entities in Malta, having been entrusted with various legislative reforms in the human rights and civil liberties sector, including in the LGBTIQA+ and gender-based violence sectors. She is also a regular speaker and contributor to conferences and training sessions relating to these social and legal concerns.

Before the Maltese courts, Désirée assists private clients in sensitive family, discrimination, and human rights issues, among other civil matters.

Emerson Rizzo Gatt

Legal Trainee

Emerson Rizzo Gatt read Law at the University of Malta, obtaining a Master of Advocacy in 2024 and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) in 2023. As part of his Bachelors degree, Emerson presented his dissertation entitled "Medical Non-Refoulement: Its Development and Barriers to International Protection", where he encompassed elements of immigration law and international human rights law, with a particular emphasis on the principle of non-refoulement as outlined in the European Convention on Human Rights.

As part of his studies, Emerson studied in Rome at the Libera Università degli Studi Maria Ss. Assunta (LUMSA), where he delved into international law, EU competition law, and immigration law.

Through his practice and traineeship, Emerson is presently building a strong background in civil law, particularly property law and elements of lease, as well as family law.
